Boxing

I started boxing when I was 14 years old, and I have been doing this sport for 2.8 years! My mom wanted me to try out boxing when I was around 9, but I was way too intimidated. So, I decided to try out every other sport you could possibly think of: dancing, volleyball, basketball, ballet, track and field, even CrossFit, etc. I was always into doing sports. When 2020 hit, everything closed down except for the club, and something just told me to walk down those stairs to the boxing club that I now call home. I did my first class and instantly felt at home. It was welcoming, and I just fell in love with the sport ever since. The repetition, coordination, and all the aspects that go into it, the dedication, absolutely everything, I loved! After that first lesson, I bought my first pair of gloves and wraps. I knew right away that this was my sport. My huge long-term goal is the 2028 Olympics. I’ve checked off many of my goals, like being on Team BC, becoming an open fighter, having my first fight, all of that. But the big one recently was to be selected to the national youth team competition. I always looked up to those on Team Canada, imagining myself there, and it’s amazing to see that I’ve reached that point. I’m currently headed to Montreal for a training camp this Saturday as preparation and then representing Canada in Cali, Colombia in August! 💪🏽❤️ I cannot wait to see what comes next. The future holds amazing things in this lifetime. I love the feeling that I’m always learning and getting better each day. With this sport, there’s never an end to learning, and you become smarter. Boxing didn’t just help me inside the ring but also on the outside: my confidence, mentality, life lessons—everything. I have been taught so much and still am.
