Back in ’98, a feisty crew of Calgary ladies came together, all warriors who had battled breast cancer. They were the pioneers, forming the very first dragon boat racing team in Alberta made up of individuals living with the disease. Learning to paddle those dragon boats wasn’t just a physical challenge—it became a powerful symbol. Their story ignited a fire within others, inspiring a mission to rebuild shattered health and confidence after a cancer diagnosis.

Being part of this team meant more than just joining forces—it meant joining a sisterhood with a shared purpose. Together, they found motivation, empowerment, and a way to fight off the isolation that often comes with battling cancer.

Fast forward to today, and Sistership boasts an impressive crew of over eighty fierce women hailing from Calgary and its surroundings. These ladies live and breathe fitness, with year-round expectations and two intense water training sessions every week from May to September, all under the watchful eye of our top-notch coaching staff. Thanks to their unwavering dedication, Sistership has made waves in competitions across the country and abroad.

Bound by a bond of camaraderie and understanding, these women continue to embody strength and unyielding determination. Their message resonates deeply with our members, their families, our supporters, and those who have recently been dealt the blow of a breast cancer diagnosis.
